Hungry Grape grew out of a longtime friendship and mutual love for good food and wine and culinary travel. We’ve done trips the world over, but Hungary was our springboard. We’ve visited all the country’s wine regions and over the years have short-listed the best wines and most engaging producers. We wanted to share these treats with others so they can enjoy what we believe is the best gourmet food and wine that Hungary has to offer.

I’m a Canadian who has lived and worked in Budapest since the early 1990s, all the while following the Hungarian culinary scene and tasting wines around the country.
As an avid traveller, my passion for good food and wine grew as I tasted and sipped my way through the spices, traditional cooking styles and locally produced tipples of travel destinations around the globe.
For me, Hungry Grape is about sharing these experiences and this knowledge with other culinary travellers.

My story with wine started when I was a kid. Every Friday my grandma played cards with her friends and sent me out to buy wine. It was easy in the ‘80s when the wine selection consisted of a single red cuvée and one semi-sweet white. Thirty years later, things have gotten more complicated but it’s a fun challenge trying to keep up.
Now, as a creative professional, my job is to tell the stories behind products. Maybe that’s why meeting with winemakers is so inspiring to me. They are the creative minds behind every bottle. To hear their stories, to understand what they want to achieve, is just as interesting to me as the wine itself.
